Post Aftermarket Bolt-Ons

My nagging question is: what bolt-on items will give me the most benefit and work well with others mods. I've seen the adds for filters, headers, exhaust systems, ignitions (coils, wires, etc.), chips, pulleys, superchargers, and the list goes on. I am interested in all of these and more, but I want to know if it's worth the cost and will adding one hurt or hinder another. I understand what they all do, but I'm lost as to where to begin and where to go. I want all the power I can get from my 4.6L without wasting money for minimal HP and torque gains. Help!! From the details below, you can see what I have and it might help somebody help me.

I'd say airflow (intake AND exhaust) and a Superchip.

Check out this thread for more ideas:

That's what I was sort of thinking. I have plans to add a 4-5 inch suspension lift with 35x12.5x16 BFG A/T's. I know I would need to beef up the engine a little so I don't wear it out. Anybody have any other suggestions? I appreciate the help.....

Going with tires that big, you'll most definitely want to change to lower rear gears. I've got 33" tires w/3.55 gears and you can tell quite a difference in power from the stock tires.

As much as I hate to think about it, you're right. I cringe at the thought of the money and time I need to do that. Maybe I'm wrong. I've seen a lot of folks who are getting good prices on all kinds of stuff. I would like to know where they're getting this stuff that cheap. Some of it is a lot cheaper than what I've seen. Maybe it's where I live. Who knows.

I agree with nomo, go with something like airaid for intake, do the dual exhaust thing and definitely SUPERCHIP the beggar.

Wyldman, I agree completely with what you, and eveybody else has to say. I want, for now, to get the maximum power and efficeincy out of this thing without tearing it completely apart. When the warranty is up, that's a whole other story. I have been researching the installation of heads, cam, etc. Until then, I want to stick with the basics. I do appreciate the input from all and hope to receive more tips/help from others. This is the best place to go to get it and that's why I'm here.

All of the ideas listed above have merit and are things I have already done to my 4.6L V8, but the only place to find real power in that motor is in the heads. W/O replacing the heads, it really hinders the capabilities of the other add-ons, even to the point of negating thier gains.

I realize that replacing heads is not a trivial expense or job to perform, but all of the tuning and perfomance tips on the engine indicate this really needs to be the first priority, else the money won't really be well spent.

Just my .02 worth....
