Question Removing Converters

My Friend had his catylitic converters removed. We were talking about it the other day, and we were wondering if it could damage the engine at all? I once heard that it would heat up and cool down the pistons too quikly, is this true? He has an older truck (earliy 90's) so the computer in it is not affected.

Talking

Vince, I am sorry but that has got to be the funniest thing I have heard in awhile. Tell me what happened to pistons before they started putting catalytic converters on vehicles?

Cool

The guy that told me that probably didn't Know what the hell he was talking about.(He said that he used to work at a muffler place) Or he was just telling me that so I wouldn't think about doing it. (probably was a environmetal nut or something)
