I'm considering the same system.
What did yours cost?

Easy to install? Did the system include everything needed?

Is the sound a little deeper and a little more authoritative? I'm not looking for loud or any interior resonance - just a small but noticable sound/performance gain.

Can you feel the difference? Any gas mileage change?

Sorry for so many questions - any response appreciated.

Bart,
The system cost $285.98 (includes shipping), I got it from TRUCK PERFORMANCE(800-719-8100). It was easy to install, took me about an hour, everything you need is included. It's not much louder than stock, but has a nice tone at idle, andf when you get on it it sounds nice. I noticed more low end power right away, havn't had it on long enough to see gas mileage results. Hope that answers your questions? Let me know what you do. Gino

Thanks Gino,
The info really helps. I found a local supplier that will get it to me for $279.00 (plus tax), so I guess we are in the ballpark.

What you describe is just what I was hoping for. You can hear it, and when you stand on it, you know something nice is happening both sound and power wise. The only other system I checked into is the Flowmaster 70 series, but my guess is it would be a bit loud. Have you ever compared the two?

My truck may be odd as I'm getting 16-17 MPG.
I don't baby it nor do I beat it. Also, not much stop and go driving as I live out of town. I love the truck and am a bit apprehensive about screwing up a good thing.

Bart,

Don't get your hopes up for the Gibson to produce a "nice" sound. The Gibson is barely louder than stock, it has a nice tone, but you can barely hear it, even when you "stand on it". You'll have to be satisfied with the HP and MPG gains which do improve a bit.

I think you are correct. I heard a Gibson today on a Dodge. It is quiet but with a nice tone. It is a noticable difference from stock.
I think I'm gonna get one as I spoke to three people at the shop that had Gibson cat backs. They all were happy with the results and said they had noticed better performance and a slight mileage increase. They also praised the kit and said it was just as advertised.

I wish it was a bit louder too. I was considering the Flowmaster 70 series but then I read quite a few posts on their kits not fitting very well.

Thanks again.

P.S. Bought a K&N today and will install it tomorrow.

Installed the Gibson 3" catback today. I am very impressed with the quality of the kit and how easy it was to install.

Even better is the result. The truck is quicker, especially below 3000 RPM. You can really feel the difference. I like the sound too. I wanted something a bit louder than stock but still quiet, with a deeper sound. For some it may be quiet - not much louder than stock, but the tone is throaty and the performance is there for sure.

The install took about two hours(I took my time) and the only surprise was that I decided to cut about 4.5" off the very end of the outlet pipe so it would not show inside the stainlee steel tip.

one install tip - The pipes are very thick - be sure to really tighten the clamps a bunch in order to secure the pipes properly.

Good tip. People should also check the clamps after a week or so of driving to ensure they are still tight.

And when I installed my Gibson I even put a couple of welds on the seams to make sure it'll stay there :-)
