So basically everyone is getting different answers from Gibson? I just got done, minutes ago, installing my side swept on a "old" straight 6. The install went fairly well, did have to cut 3 inches off of the head pipe for the hanger behind the muffler to line up. Looks AWESOME, but it's not as "rumbly" (is that a word?) as I would have liked. I installed it with the "cheese graters," as Gibson referred to it as, towards the front. So, will simply turning the muffler around get me more sound?? If so, I know what I"m doing on my next day off!! Thanks for the great posts guys and gals!!!

I installed mine last week, called again first and got the same answer the second time - open end of louvers towards the back. Gibson name on muff towards the back. Thats how I installed it, it sounds great quite at idle, but jump on it and it roars - I like it.
