Noisy v10 exh. manifold

I just picked up a '99 250 V!0 SD w/ 33k. The first week of driving everything was ok but over the last few days it's developed a very loud (I can hear it while driving) "click/pop" from the pass side exhaust manifold (not a heat shield). I guessing a loose bolt(s) attaching the manifold to the head.

Has anyone had or heard of this before; does anyone have the torque specs for the manifold bolts; and what tech manuals are people using?

Thanks in advance: GARY

Gary,

I have a 2000 F250, V10, that had engine/exhaust noise at around the same mileage. My noise sounded like an engine ping during acceleration and a rattle. Turned out to be a loose heat shield (rattle) and a design flaw with the 'Y' pipe that was making the pinging sound. Dealer replaced 'Y' pipe, not under warrenty of course. After about another 30K pinging came back and has consistantly gotten worse. Mileage at 125K now.

I hope this helps!
