I did a search and went through every thread for the last year cause I remember someone posting about this. I got the magnaflow 15749 in Dec. Now the tips are beginning to turn gold. My guess is that it is from the heat from traveling to and fro Raleigh to Charlotte. I say this because they werent there beforehand. anyway is there anything u can do or do i have to buy new tips. Thanks for the replies.

 

did you try cleaning them with an SOS pad?

guys with bikes should be able to help you with this problem. they usually tranish right at the motor on those. good luck.

 

DO NOT try cleaning them with an SOS pad, you will scratch the ***** out of them.

 

The pipes on my quad had some rust specks and were discolored and I took a wet SOS pad and blue magic aluminum polish to them.... then went back over them w/ the normal polishing routine and they shined like new money. This was 6months ago and the rust/discoloration/scratches have not shown up yet.

i'm talking about the sos pads with the soap in it. not the dry pads. make sure it's wet. i have been cleaning all the chrome and stainless on my 69 stang for the last 12 years, never scratched a thing yet. best thing to get the bugs off bumpers, clean chrome mags and clean the stainless window trim.
just try it on the underside of the tip first and see if it actually does scratch it before doing the whole thing all at once. if that doesn't work try Never dull or something along that line.
