Magnaflow 15609 or 15749

Debating which exhast to get for better performance. The 609 states it has more power gains and the 749 is a bit louder does anyone have the newer 749? The price difference is so small I want to order one but can't decide which.

I have the 15609 and like it alot. Nice fit and finish, and not too loud.

SI/SO will give you the best overall gains, even the Muffler websites will admit to that.

I'm not familiar with the 15749 though. Is it SI/DO? Stainless? Tell me more

I got the 749 back in December. Its a nice system stainless and all. I like the looks of it better than the si/so. but i dont think you would classify it as loud. It just sounds right. Sometimes I wish it was louder. As for performance i think the difference between it and the si/so is trivial. heck its not really gonna matter much, thats why I went with the looks department. Magnaflow is way to go in my opinion regardless of the type u get.

Thanks

"Magnaflow SIDO (Single In/Dual Out) Cat-Back Exhaust System for the 1997-2003 Ford F-150 with 4.6 or 5.4 V8
This system has the dual polished T304 stainless steel 3.5" exhaust tips existing from the rear of the vehicle, in classic "pickup truck" dual exhaust fashion." From the Troyer website , they state this as being a new version with HP gains of 12-15 while the 609 is rated at a 17-19 Hp gain dunno if that is a noticeable difference?

Its not so much the HP/torque difference, Its where it is gained or lost in the powerband.

Generally speaking, when you dual out , you lose low end torque which is where a truck needs it the most. You might gain it back in the higher RPMs though.

I tow a couple of boats, so I need the low end torque more than the high end.

A good dual exhaust done right you may not notice the difference. But have some dummy do it wrong, and it might be a slow pig

I've got the 749 (SI\DO). Installed it this week. Good fit and finish sounds awesome. Nice deep tone when you want it and quiet on the highway so you can hear yourself think.
$360.00 shipped to my door. I like the look of dual, but the SI\SO is also nice.
Good luck with the decision!

www.performancepeddler.com

I mentioned this website and he gave me a discount. Also my shipping was less because of my location. You might find that he will be around $380 shipped.

15609

i got a 15609 and i like it, except it cuts it close when it comes to distance from the spare tire, also those brackets are cheap, my come loose and broke off in less than six months, but it was only $2 repair.

www.fullinexhaust.com got me a deal for $377

Hi DCM;

www.hottexhaust.com

Search for 15749

==> http://www.hottexhaust.com/search_re...hParamType=ALL

Enter Quantity (1)

Enter Coupon code 'veedub' by clicking the coupon code link & resulting pop-up

Final discounted price will be $436.67 as of right now ... not too bad ...

Exhaust prices have gone up a tad since 2004

Another option would be to buy it at Performance Peddler and use the coupon code "clubgp". It gives you a total price of $422.69.

And then challenge Hottexhaust to match or beat the price
