4.9 I6 Exhaust

Im looking to get aftermarket exhaust on my truck (w/o spending too much) and im still not quite sure on what to go with.
From what i hear about the 300's is that taking out the muffler and replacing with a straight pipe works good, and i also hear a lot about the gibson setup. I would like to get some opinions on which to go with. Etheir take out the muffler, put in a Y pipe and put duels to the rear, or go with gibson. What would each sound like and how loud?
Maybe a price est. on the gibson, or ups and downs of each. Any help appreciated.

Well got my exhaust today, did a ravin z55 SIDO 2.5" dual with 24" long 2.5"-3.5" stainless tips. Surprisingly it doesnt sound ricey in the high RPMs!! (i was very worried about it sounding like a ricer...) The sound is just right, nice and quiet at idle and on the highway, but makes plenty of nice deep noise when ya step on it or downshift. Thanks for all the help (lol)
