Exclamation Gibson super truck exhaust

I installed this Gibson super truck exhaust about 2 years ago. I have been happy with it up until now. I wonder if they will honor their lifetime warranty.

Angry

Talked to gibson and after I emailed them pics they said sorry the warranty doesn't cover that because it is rusted. It was only 2 years old. I'm dissapointed.

That sucks, mine will be 2 years old this summer.
I never filled out the warrenty card tho because after checking it carefully, it wasnt worth the paper it was printed on, let alone the stamp.

The small print basically said "YOU ARE SOL IF SOMETHING HAPPENS" lol

I was hoping to get 5 years out of it, we will see.

If it just broke at the neck there then just weld it back together...

I would weld but the problem is about 1/4 inch of metal is missing (cracked off). The thing that sucks is, it didn't really rust off (although there is a lot of salt on the roads here in chicago). I think that it rattled itself loose because I was hearing a rattling sound for about 4 months prior to this happening but could never figure out where it was comming from. I think it needs some better hangers possibly one in front of or on the muffler not at the back of it like this one is. In the mean time I rigged up a 2 chamber flowmaster I had laying around and its really quiet compared to the gibson.

SSR, how do you like those band clamps that you used on the 2 chamber flow? In your experience, are they secure and do they hold well?

They work OK. They are nice because they are stainless steel. Also in order to get a really good clamp the 2 pipes need to fit inside eash other fairly tight. Keep in mind I have at least a small weld on all those pipes welded together under all those clamps.

Thumbs down

My Gibson SS started to 'rattle' after about two years..... It was a loose baffle inside. Didn't even bother with the so called "warranty". At best, all they would do is send me another POS trash can. The 3" tailpipe is still pretty good however! I kept that and just replaced the muffler with a Flo-Pro. Much happier now. I swear I've got more low end now too!

I called Gibson about a similar problem with my muffler and they said throw it away and we'll sell you a SS setup for 150.00 so I did and the SS is far better!! My thinking was that it was better to not get pissy with them and they met me half way, I was expecting to get the shaft to tell ya truth
