exhaust manifold or headers please help

A couple of days ago I posted a thread about my warped exhaust manifold but didn't get a reply. A fellow firefighter mentioned that I should get headers instead of replacing my manifold. Could someone please tell me the advantages and disadvantages of both manifold and headers. I have a 2000 f-150 Lariat 4x4 and a 5.4 engine. Any information would be valuable as I don't know much about exhaust systems.

headers is one of the easiest way's to pick up a couple of extra horses out of the motor. plus if you've ever thought about changeing the exhaust. headers would be the next step.

just make sure you pick up a good set or manifold exhaust leaks can be a pain.

Hi Max This was my second post on the same subject. I posted first on Jan 23 which is the one that you and others responded to and I thank you. My second post (this one) was done on Jan 24 because I didn't think I was going to get a response. I'm just new at this and I will have to be more patient with future posts. What Im going to do is take my truck in to a mechanic who said all I probably need is a new gasket next week. Thanks

JBA makes a header for the 4.2> I've got a set on my truck. If you do decide to put headers on you ride removing the inner fender wells (after pulling the front tires) makes a world of difference access-wise.
