4.6 true duals
With that setup running two mufflers would be hard to find space for would it not? Also I like to go off road sometimes would the split behind the tire look or be better for me? 2.25 or 2.5 or 3" pipe be best?
Has anyone heard of the new super 40 series flowmasters? Should I go with them or the original or delta flow? I want the most power and sound. I think I'm going to go with a X-pipe by magnaflow before the two mufflers not sure about the 2 mufflers yet then think of going out the back and spilt out to the side with 4" stainless steel tips tappered cut. Is this a good setup for power and sound.

Even if the mufflers are alittle big you can put one alittle bit in front of the other on the pipes. Im not sure what the Flowmasters sound like, never heard them before. Mine doesnt sound to bad with glasspacks thought.
I would go with 2.5 inch pipe since you are puttin a X-pipe in. That way you will have alittle extra flow for better mileage and if you get a intake and such that 2.25 would more than likely hold you back alittle. Back pressure shouldnt be a problem with 2.5 either with a X-pipe

I just put on a K&N intake system on my 97 4.6L 4x4. I LOVE IT it sounds so mean now with just the motor. Should I go with more intake stuff, chip then exhaust or what is best combo? I'm really looking to get somemore gas mileage out of my truck since I'm a college student right now. thanks for everyone's help.

Well should I get a chip, programer, ignition system, or exhaust first? Which is better programer or chip? I'm really looking things that can be used on another truck around the same year model when I trade up but not anytime soon. Thanks for the suggestions and help.

Which is better a chip or programmer? Where is a good place to get a exhaust put on at the one I use I didnt like what they did on my last truck. Somewhere around henderson or raleigh or louisburg is best for me. I go to school in henderson is why such a long range of places. Thanks

To answer your 1st question, chip or programmer, I would say Programmer. They allow you to make adjustments for how you want things, and if you have the money, a 9100 Superchip is the only way to go. Custom programmed for YOUR truck.
Now, programmers are probably going to be more efficient in power and gas milage than a chip, but a programmer will also run you about $200 more than a chip.
2nd, that exhasut setup would probably cost 300 bucks, around here that is. (Nebraska) I dont really know how much of a difference things are price wise in bigger cities compared to around here. Im jsut guessing but I would say $375-450. Just drove around to all the shops you trust and get an estimate.
If you are wondering what dual tips out the back looks like, here is a picture of my truck. Those are 3 1/2 inch angle cut stainless tips.
Im gonna try to post a picture here. I've never did it before.
Its hard to see, I was thinkin the pic was a little better than that.
I jsut took some new pics the other day and they are getting developed as I speak. I have a better rear one and a shot of under the truck, so you can see where the pipes where routed. Ill try to get them up either tonight or tomarrow.

I like the angle at the back look for a 4x4 like mine plus i smashed my other ones I have on my other truck that came out the back going up a hill one day. Thank you for your advice and I agree with you on everything about the programmer and all. Thank you for taking time to give me some insite. I'm hopping it will not run too much for the exhaust cause I need to do it cause i have the one pipe coming out infront of the tire in the right rear and its starting to eat my rim up from the exhaust gases. I live in a small town also so I hope I can go around I know a few places but quality on the other jobs they did for me was poor.
I had my true duals with flows done for $383. That included the labor, both mufflers and ss tips. I had it done exactly the way you want it. But with 3.5" tips. Those are coming off soon for 4"
