Stock to Flow
Stock to Flow
How hard of a task would it be to replace a stock exhaust and what tools would I need to do so? I'm thinking of going with a Flow, Just don't want it to get too complicated. Any suggestions?
The answers are as varied as the questions.
What do you want? Front exit, duals, noise, power...
You can go from Cheap, which is what I did, with a Series 50 SUV can from Flowmaster with a local shop using three-inch pipe to replace the stock stuff (a little more sound, much better grunt), or you can get Crazy and get something like a Borla Dual Cat-Back in stainless steel.
Lotsa choices.

I would like to keep it as simple (and as inexpensive) as possible.
My stock pipe on my 97 XLT exits in front of the rear pass. side wheel, I would like to change that to come out behind it. I just wondering is this something I could do myself or would it be less of a headache to get it done at a shop? (probably the latter)
A buddy of mine recently had dual flows put on his Lariat and it looks and sounds good without being overly annoying. I think he paid around 2 to $300 and had it done at a Maxi Muff. shop, what kind of price would I be looking at for a single outlet, rear exit Flow installed, just curious, thanks.

I went the easy and cheap route and I am happy with the results.

I cut the stock muffler of with a RotoZip, bolted on a 40 series delta and installed a 3.5 inc tip. I love the sound. Listen to the clips. I only paid about $85 for the muff, clamps and peice of pipe.

Cut, Slide On, Clamp. Exactly
I needed another piece of pipe (about 1 foot) to make up for the smaller Flowmaster. I clamped that on as well. As for hangers, I bought stainless stell strap and made my own hanger. Took me about an hour. No welding
