muffler trade in?

I have a flowmaster 40 series DF and i want to put on a "super 40" to get a deeper tone on my 4.2...I have heard about muffler shops doing a trade in on mufflers... is this true? and what shops do you go to? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I've never heard of it, except maybe to replace something that they installed and you just don't like the tone. Other than that, I doubt it, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Muffler shops don't trade in used mufflers in general. Stretching reality, they might need it elsewhere, do a favor to promote additional purchases, or replace a warranted muffler.

I honestly don't know the answer to this but if I were an exhaust shop I can't imagine why I would take a trade in. In essence they would likely have to back up a used product. The mark up on exhaust products are pretty good and they don't cost them all that much to begin with.
