Question install - leave it to the pros?

I'm looking into MagnaFlow cat-back exhaust for my 04 150 Screw. Is this something I can install myself? That is, loosen a few bolts here and there, pull out the old, put in the new, tighten a few bolts and I'm done. Or should I have it professionally done.

Typically I don't do my own work since it's not my forte but if this doesn't require a lot of skill I'd like to save the install cost.

from what i have seen here on the boards, it is simply taking the factory exhaust off and then replacing with the magnaflow. some suggest taking it to a muffler shop to have it tack welded into place afterwards, just so it doesnt come off later. but it should be a fairly straight forward job.

Replacing an exhaust is fairly easy, especially on an 04. All the factory bolts and hangers havent had a chance to really rust yet.
A friend and I replaced the factory exhaust on my 93 chevy and that was rusted solid. It only took a couple of hours. All kits come with everything you need, its just a matter of selecting the muffler you want to go with it. All you really need is basic wrenches and sockets and you'll be all set.

Most importantly, don't forget to have some type of pipe cutting device/ machine. Most kits REQUIRE CUTTING. If you're not up to it, get it professionally installed.

I just replaced my exhaust with a MagnaFlow catback system and it wasnt that difficult. Standard wrenches and something to cut the old pipe if needed. I would also suggest WD-40 or PB Blaster or something if your factory clamps and pipes are rusted. I also used some silicon spray on the hangers to make it easier to remove the factory system. I think if you dedicate yourself to the task and arent afraid to put some muscle into it, you can do this. Save yourself the money and give it a shot. Good luck!

Do it yourself. I did it in about 45 minutes including clean up. If you don't have a sawzall (I had to make 1 cut), get one of those cut off discs that go on a circular saw, it will cut like butter.
