LEV F150 5.4 Help

I have an '01 5.4 Lariat 4x4 that is a "low emissions vehicle". I think what that stands for is "limited exhaust volume". My muffler is roughly the size of an H-Bomb. I want to add some bolt - ons such as cat back exhaust, K&N Gen. II, throttle body spacer that doesn't whistle(does anybody know of a good one). Pretty basic stuff.

My question is what must I do first. K&N excludes my LEV from its list of kits. Is it electronics I have to deal with or is it just that crazy exhaust I have to get rid of.

Has anyone else overcome this hurdle that the government (not Ford) has laid before me?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

hey maverick,

I also live in the Metroplex. How do you know you have an "LEV"?

There is a sticker on the driver's side window that says Ford Motor Company LEV Low Emissions Vehicle.

Does anyone else have a LEV F150 or is it just me? Maybe all the newer ones are and it doesn't even matter.

Please help

I have a 2001 and it has the "LEV" sticker onit. Get rid of that factory exhaust! I installed a Magnaflow dual out the rear and it is a big improvement.
