How do i do this right?

I am ready to go the muffler shop and make the truck louder. Currently i have SI/DO flowmaster 40 delta flow muffler. I want to get the guy to either just cut out the cats or put high flow cats in. (will high flo cats make louder?) The only thing i am worried is about is having the check engine light on after i get something cut out. Do i have to buy something else to add on after CATS get cut-off, high flow cats maybe better option so i dont have 02 sensors to worry about

please help

thanks
phil

Last Saturday i ripped all 4 cats off my F-150, it was a job and a half and i wouldnt recomend it to anyone. It did, however, make the truck unbeleivably loud. It sounds like a supercharged Mustang GT. I put MIL eliminators on the O2 sensors and i havent had a problem since. Dont even bother asking a muffler shop to rip your cats off because they wont. I have Magnaflow High Flow cats but once i heard the truck without any at all, i couldnt stand to put them back on. All i can say is, best cats are no cats.

you won't pass a smog check without that cats. if you are planning on registering it anywhere with any smog check laws you may be in for trouble. not sure about the laws in your area though. out here in CA there's no way I coud get away with that. good luck!

Ive got my stock cats on and straight pipe behind that. Im wondering how much louder it would be with hi flo's and true dual straight pipe, and if it would be worth the 300 dollars its going to take.

The sound difference between High Flow cats and no cats at all is huge, especially if you have a Flowmaster 40 series. With High Flows its just a slightly louder version of what you have now. With no cats at all, you hear what your engine and exhaust are supposed to sound like. The only thing i can compare the sound of my truck to, is a supercharged Mustang GT. I think its even louder than some of those. And if you go with no cats, the MILs are an absolute must. I got the Plug-n-Play ones, i didnt want anything to do with the ones you have to splice into, they were a little more, but well worth it. There are a bunch of inspection places around where i live that will just print me out a sticker without testing the truck, so im lucky. I did the cat job myself, wasnt easy, but so worth it.

Heres a link to the MILs i have: http://www.unbridledponies.com/Merch...tegory_Code=F1

*THESE ARE FOR THE 4.6'S*

Theres a blue plug between the O2 sensor and the computer, you unlpug that and put the eliminator between the ends of the two plugs. The sound difference between my high flow cats and no cats, is amazing. I had true duals but i didnt like the way it sounded, so i put a Y pipe on, and stuck my old SI/DO 40 series back on, and it screams. Now that the Y pipes back on, i deffinately notice a little more tourqe.

The eliminators shut your check engine light off, because it comes on when you take the cats off, and it fools the truck into thinking the stock cats are still there, so it wont change your air/fuel ratio
