5.4L borla exhaust help!!

Hi, I have a 200) F-150 5.4L with K&N FIPKII kit and borla cat back system (1 into 2). All my friends drive dodge's and there trucks are so much louder. Is there anything in reason i can do to help this. I was thinking about removing the cats and such but wanted to see what you guys thought. Also, where could i get the parts at to do this.

thanks

dave

The borla exhaust is inherently quieter. Its a performance exhaust and not much on noise.

The only alternative is to get some flowmasters 40 series... they seem to be pretty loud.

I have a Borla cat back on my 5.0 Mustang and ran it with the cats for quite a while then took off the cats and it made a huge difference in sound. Of course I don't have to pass the sniffer here.

There is no way I would swap the Borla to a Flowmaster, stick with the T304 Stainless. A major step down in quality IMO.
The Borla will get a tad louder with time also.
Settle for the nice rumble, knowing that your system is performing better and will last forever.

I have a Borla on mine. It was taken from my 97 and fitted to my 00 by the local muffler shop. $35.00 CDN cash including 2 hangers. I would never consider changing the Borla. The system works well the way it is designed. Back in 97 they dynoed 12 HP from this same system. Wht screw with success?

The inherent problem with getting major noise from a Ford exhaust is the fact that there are 2 catalytic convertors on each bank of the exhaust. These do a great job of quieting the exhaust. I realized this when I cut my stock cat back system off and drove the truck home to put my aftermarket cat back system on. Even with no muffler or tail pipe it wasn't too loud. Some cat-back systems are louder than others but if you are really trying to make one noisy a pair of high flow cats to replace the stock 4 are in order. This is just my 2 cents worth and that's all I got to say bout' that.
