Angry Headers

I've found some headers alright, but no way in he!! am I payin 500+ for some dam headers!! OK mod engines are fairly new on the market compared to some but there has got to be a compatible header or somethin. I mean stangs can get some cheapos for close to 100 bucks, but we cant come close, come on. I have done a little research about similar heads but I cant find much on compatability. Our motors have been out for almost 7 production years and were still payin "came out last yr. prices" WTF man!! by the way i have a 5.4 N/a sCREW :

If you pay $100. for headers you'll have 100 problems. I feel your frustration, though.

My Gibson stainless steel headers cost me $429 and I haven't had a single issue or leak with them on. It's kinda ridiculous that they cost so much though.

I look at it this way,, A good set of headers is what would you say? $350 on up? You pay that much for 3 things,,,,,,,,,,Looks, power, and sound. Headers look sweet as hell with cermaic coatings on them and really beef up the engines overall apperance and it's compartment. Secondly, you get what? 20 h.p increase? maybe 30??? You pay that much for basically what there made of, and strength. H.p is cheap and anyone can get more h.p out of there engine with a few simple mods right there in there driveway or garage,,,,,,Air filter, Ignition, exhaust etc.. What you pay for is strength. Why do you think Cermaic Headers costs more than standard Headers??? This is the way I see it,,,,,91

thats a little on the optimistic side, 20-30 hp, but anyway my point was that almost all other headers out there are significantly cheaper the an f-150's would be and I would like manufacturers get caught up with this.

Good quality headers are expensive.

www.troyerperformance.com

look in the exhaust section, under headers. Look at Chevy and Dodge prices. And that's the cheapest I've seen anywhere.

like ive said before, just cause a product is expensive does'nt mean its good and vice versa, if those prices are cheap id hate to see what you consider expensive. ck jegs http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...09&prmenbr=361 and cerma coat headers arent any more, so thanks but i was tryin to see if someone had found any less expensive headers, for a different model, that are compatable, can ya ck that for me?

HI-

The good ones for the 5.4L are:

JDM/Kook long tubes
JBA
Bassani

With the Troyer site, I was refering you a good place to get JBA headers for a reasonable price. Usually they are close to $900.

The Edelbrock headers are probably as good as their other stuff. I just don't know of anyone that has their headers on a >97 F-150. I also don't know how well they stack up when dynoed. Anyone know? The ceramic coating usually ups the price about $100. Jet hot is the best coating, but there are some other out there.

Neal does. First were the JBA short headers and the dual Flows, then he replaced the whole setup, Kooks Long Tube Headers, high flow cats, X pipe and Dual SI/SO MagnaFlow mufflers.

Don't know if he got track times yet to see the delta...Ask him if he got to the track yet. That is the only N/A 5.4L with long tube headers that I can think of straight away.

Lots of L owners with Long Tubes high flow cats, and either the Bassani cat back or the Magna-Packs. aka by some as JDM long tube headers and JDM silver bullets. Check out the L forum for the specific results on 60' 1/8 & 1/4 times and any posted Dyno sheets. The decrease in 1/4 mile times and increase in HP may not be on the same for a N/A engine. All depends on the tune used on the chip, some go lean and mean, some use a fat tune so they don't go boom in the winter.
