Exhaust Question

I'm looking for a system that will give me the best power while still running 89 octane. I'm not worried about the noise eather.

I have a 2002 Super Screw.

Also what else can I do performance wise?

If you want just a bolt on cat-back, get the Magnaflow cat-back, it is the only system that you will gain low end torque with, plus it still makes more peak hp/tq than any other sysyem. If you want to go all out, you can get a true dual Magnaflow ... hiflow cats, x-pipe, dual mufflers, this will be the ultimate setup, but it will require a shop to custom bend all the pipes and put it together.

As far as other mods, get a Superchip, and an Air Force One Intake. Those will be the best bang for your buck mods along with exhaust. Next I would get underdrive pulleys, conver the factory clutch fan to dual 16" fans. Then add some headers, get a larger throttle body, put some 4.10 gears in, and a limited slip if you don't already have one. Add a shift kit for your transmission, then you can add a blower, port your heads, get cams, .... the list goes on.

The F-150 uses a fan that is connected to a pully on the serpentine belt. This takes up some of the engine power to turn the big fan. Electric ones use electric motors which are more efficient than the pully.

There are several kits availible, and plenty of custom ones you cna read about on here. Search for "electric fan" in the engines forum. Also, Mike T in the superchips forum sells a nice kit.

You've got a long way to go....

Actually, I was thinking:
Microtuner or Superchip
Magnaflow #15609
Pullies

Or, the Stage 1 kit. I think that would greatly increase your driving experience.

Unless this part of your requirements went away, no MicroTuner.

You would need to do a chip with a tune for 89 oct, which is not as strong a tune as the 91 + tune.

2x check it with Mike to be sure, but I don't think 89 and MicroTuner can be used together.

Reason I want to run 89 is I get it at half price, or less.

Probally take me a few months to get the $8000. If the canadian dollar gets any better, it will take less time.

I think I may go with the stage 1 kit for now. I can run 89 on both kits with a 5-10hp power lose. Hmm, what should I do. Maybe go with the stage 1 now, and upgrade to stage 2 later.

2-program Superchip Flip Chip or micro tuner
Air Force One Intake
Magnaflow Cat-Back Exhaust
Dual 16" Electric Fan Kit
Underdrive Pulley Set
High-Performance Ignition System upgrade

65-72 HP & 75-80+ lbs./ft. of torque to the 5.4

$1850.00

Stage 1

2-program Superchip Flip Chip
Air Force One Intake
Magnaflow Cat-Back Exhaust

45-50 HP
$999.95

I'm not questioning why, just pointing out no Mirco Tuner for this. Needs to be a chip with the correct tune. I saw suggestions for the Micro Tuner in posts, and wanted to point that part out.

Like I said ask Mike if the Micro Tuner has the ability to be programmed for 89, I did not think it was an option to take in the programming. I don't recall seeing that as an option, but then again I did that quite awhile ago.
