To use RTV or not to use RTV?
with the heads being aluminium and being machined to such close tolerance and the mating surface of a Quaility header being pretty much the same,a quaility header gasket should be able to handle any stress without blowout...now for high performance application where extremes are often gained some producers like Mr gasket or Fel-pro make gaskets that are of soft non-ferris metals but won't melt away at high temps(space age chit you know) like cooper and aluminium called 'dead soft'
mf150 why are you still stressing out about the header gaskets dude? Use the JBA gasket and all will be fine you do not need anything other than that gasket. And for god sake DO NOT put RTV on a header with a gasket.

Richard--
I 've decided after *MUCH* reflection that I'm going to go with the *STOCK* JBA gasket. The only altercation I am going to make is to purchace a set of Stage 8 locking bolts because I don't have time to re-torque 3 times in 6 months. I just want to get the best possible components for the headers, so that i will not have any problems down the line.
I appreciate all the helpful suggestions!

I have only had to retorque my header bolts once and that was right after haveing the header installed after it had warmed up. The locking bolts are a good idea but you may even need to recheck those as well. As long as the JOB is done right you should not have any problems. I have been running JBA headers and there gaskets since 1988 and never have a I had a gasket failure or had to retorque my bolts more than once.
