Question How do flowmaster 40 series sound?

Does anyone have a 5.4 with the Flowmaster 40 series mufflers recorded? I have a 97 F-150 4x4 ORP with 4" lift and 35" tires and i feel the need for big sound to match the truck and was wondering if this might be the answer.

Thumbs down

Depends..on newer F-150's, they sound stock at idle, and "nice" as the RPM's rise, with no interior noise. However, they are too quiet for my preference. I went straight 3" pipe with a turn down, and it's not even loud enough. I do think though, that the FM 40, non-DeltaFlow is as loud as you'll get out of a muffler, but I haven't heard a Ravin 33 or any glasspacks. Remember, the bigger the tips, the louder / deeper it'll seem. Easy way to tell...have them cut the pipe before the muffler, drop the truck, and let you rod it around for a minute. You'll love it, I'm sure.

Cool

im the person youre looking for.
I have a 98 5.4 and had the flowmaster 40 series true dual exhaust and it just was not loud enough for me. So i went back to the meinike i got it from and had them install true dual exhaust glasspacks and whoa is there a difference. All the people who think flows are the loudest exhaust just havent had or heard glasspacks. There awesome and i havent had any loss in power or torque. Believe me youll love them.

Question

Hi 98Lariat5.4
I think that you were right for going to the glasspack for the sound i used to have a chevy with glasspacks and it sounded great. but what size glasspack did you go with and is the sound a deep growl or is it more of a popping sound?

Thanks for the answer

Wink

Well I got Two 24 inch glasspacks and it sounds great. It has a little bit of both. It has the deep growl sound plus it also has more popping which i like. I also heated the exhaust up and then threw some cold water up in them and it made them sound even better.

Cool

I just have a FM40 Delta Flow in stalled
with dual exhaust. I have a 2001 F150
Super Crew Lariat 4x4 , 5.4

I sounds Great !!

Low deep rumble at startup and idle.
Loud on acceleration, but fairly quiet
when cruising.

I'll try to get some sound bites and
post them.
