Question Give me some ideas.

Without doing an extensive search, I need to know what you guys/gals think would be the best exhaust to put on my '98 4X4 with the 4.6 motor. Looking for more power when towing but nothing obnoxiously loud. A good moderate rumble would be fine. I'm new here and would appreciate any/all ideas. I want true duals (cat back) with no mufflers if possible. Need to know which diameter would be best. Looking to spend 4 bills or less.

most muffler shops whil set you up with duals for around 150-200. just make sure that you tell them you want duals or they will run a y pipe off your cats and then duals. i had 2 1/2 in pipe with 3 in tips. you could hear me pretty well. i switched to 2 turned down 40 series flowmasters and only spent 200. they are true duals. as far as being illegal its illegal to cut the cats, straight pipes the cops dont like much but as long as you have cats they will leave you alone

Hey, y'all, I have a 97 with a 4.6, and I want the sound of straight pipes, or even glass packs maybe, and I want to know if it's going to cut my horsepower any, and what size pipes I should go with if I am just going to go straight with it. Would the 2.25 all the way back be good enough? I have been wanting to do this for a long time, but I don't know anything about it, and I don't wanna shoot myself in the foot.
Thanks y'all.

max-
when they did my true duals they cut the y off and ran pipe from the bend where the pipes meet close together. i dont see how this would be illegal all they did is cut off the y and then run duals. cats are still in tact

If you are towing you may not want to go true duels... I have heard that it can cause a loss of bottom end which would be bad if you are towing and also the duel out the back could cover your trailer in black stuff coming from your exhaust. I would go with the gibson Side Swept Stainless Steel. Not too loud but gains you in performance.
I don't know what you call obnoxioulsy loud but true duels are about the loudest option you can go w/o glass packs or something of the like.

Just some of my thoughts
