Post best cat-back for 5.4 without xcess noise?

i want to add a cat-back, airaid, and superchip to my mom's expy. we tow with it. what would be the best catback that would add power without adding too much sound. i hear that rear exits bounce off the trailer and make defening renosense in the truck. so i will stick to side exits even thought split rear looks cool.
so far the contest is between:
gibson split side
gibson swept side
dynomax single
magnaflow
k&n(little pricy)
which would be the best for our truck? any of these really loud? anyone got a better suggestion.
thanks

The Swept Side will be the quietest, next would probably be the Split Side. The others will be more "thoaty" and could have more drone while towing. I have the Swept Side on my F150. It's "supposed" to add the most power to a stock 5.4, but the draw back, if you can call it that, is that it's only slightly louder then stock. I really like it on mine. It's just enough to let some rumble out and does not "drone" in the cab at all. Even towing. Just a nice "rumble" tone. With the radio on or the windows open at highway speed and you can't hear it at all. Just the way I wanted it.

Hey guys,

Have you heard of Magnaflow mufflers and cat back systems?

I originally installed the Gibson cat-back with the split rear on my truck. Yes, it wasn't the loudest sounding exhaust, but a good performer. Well, a week ago I replaced the Gibson muffler with a Flowmaster 40 series two chamber. Fantastic sound, loud, but I actually lost some low end torque and hp didn't feel the same.

Well, after discussing this with the muffler shop owner, he said that a better system would be the Magnaflow system. No restrictions, mandrel bent piping, and engineered/dyno designed. Sound, a little more than Gibson, not near as loud as the Flowmaster, but my low end torque improved and power felt similar or improved over the Gibson.

Think about it! Look at their web site.

i believe when you say Gibson Split side, you mean the Gibson Dual Sport..

i've had mine on for a couple weeks now, and love it..

search for my post in "Aftermarket Exhaust" forum to hear it..

Hello, JA4x4.
I have the Borla sys. on my 01 SCrew.
Read many of the other posts on this site and you will find many other very satisfied customers. Sweet mellow sound on idle..not too loud. In fact sometines I wish it was a little bit more noticable? Yet get on it, and you have that distinctive BORLA growl...

Mine happen to be split out the back w/ Phantom tips.

PS:If your towing...from what I've heard and read...it's not a matter of just getting exhaust bouncing off the trailer that one should be concerned about... It's the exhaust fumes aimed and pouring into the trailer that is a serious cause for concern.

Late...
