Replace Factory Muffler w/ Straight pipe????

I have an 03 Screw 5.4 and was wondering if anybody has only replaced the stock muffler with a after market one or just simply removed stock muffler and put a straight pipe in its place.

THANKS,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I replaced the stock muffler on my 5.4 with a turbo muffler, and 2.5" single tailpipe, (had to move it behind the rear wheel anyway), so put a custom tailpipe on it while it was there.
Nice soft rumble, throaty under decent load.
I like it.

Flowmaster

I went with a Flowmaster 40 series SI/DO with 2.5" pipes straight out the back and 3" chrome tips. Everyone seems to have an opinion about what branf muffler/cat back system, so digest all the differing opinions and go with what you think is best. Several personal friends swear by the flowmaster and I have been very impressed with the increased HP/torque as well as better MPG. Everyone has their opinion...I love Miracle Whip and the wife swears by Kraft mayonaise. Sometimes it's hard to change an opinion. Just my thoughts...

I just put in a Magnaflow. I like the straight thru design. I also like that its not loud, and hardly any cab drone.

I had the muffler removed, Y pipe installed, and had 2.5" (I believe) dual pipes run the the rear, where I have stainless steal tips. I am VERY impressed with the sound, neighbors aren't though. I have not noticed much lower end loss, but have noticed some better higher end. I would reccomend to anyone.

You say you haven't noticed much lower end loss, which means you have noticed "some loss", is that correct? What size engine are you running? Just curious.

Low EnD Power

I've got the 5.4 and I have more power through the spectrum.
