I think that should be just fine... I'm not too sure how hot it gets in there but it shouldn't be more than 500 degrees.

I wouldn't worry about the superficial rust in the tips. Take you truck for a long run at freeway speeds and you'll notice the rust will burn off. Certain older car companies, Studabaker (SP?), use to leave their engine blocks out in a yard for up to one year so that the rust would actually harden the metal. Weird huh. If it's not bad...I would worry about painting them.

Just my opinion, good luck

The only reason I painted the inside of my tips is because I have the rolled edges, even though they have drain holes all of the water splashed in there during the wet weather does not go out the drain holes but overflows over the rolled edge leaving a rust mark. I guess once carbon builds up in there the black will then overflow. Just need to keep them wiped and shined!

Any protection helps in that case!
Just for my curiosity's sake, how'd you paint the interior?

M150, I just used a spray can with a rag in hand to wipe off any overspray on the chrome, once you put the tip of the spray can in the tip there is only one way it can go, just make sure the drain holes dont clog up. It takes very little paint.

If your exhaust tips have rolled edges they should.

Jmorg,

Your tips do not have rolled edges the best way to describe rolled edges is a round lip at the edge. If I could figure out how to send a picture i could show you mine.
