Exclamation Need opinions FAST!!!!!

Ok, i got a quote for a custom exhaust. Its a true dual with : X pipe, magnaflow mufflers, and magnaflow tips. Exiting behind each rear tire. Im not sure if the mufflers or pipes are stainless steel or not. But, i know the tips are, and the tips cost 50 bucks each. Well, the guy quoted me just under $500 for everything, including the install. I need to make the decision tomorrow. Should i go for it? I'm also supercharging the truck soon (if that makes a difference?). Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Sounds good, but $50 a piece for each tip, get the Magnaflow SS tips from bigexhaust.com, together they will probably be $50.

Rest assured the pipes (probably the X-pipe as well) are 'not' stainless for that price. I installed a Magnaflow SISO catback system on my truck that was 'all' stainless, and the price of the system only was over $450. Seems that if you're going to go to all the time and expense to do a 'true' duals / X-pipe system, which is a good thing, going full stainless should be a requirement. Just my $.02. Remember you asked. Good luck.

Thanks for the replys guys.

Bigdeal, I know that the stainless cat-backs are that price, but i also know this guy gets everything for a lot cheaper than what we could. But, your probably right, about it not being that stainless. But, if i wanted it he could probably get it for me for cheaper, than what i could.
Another thing, the supercharger is already setting me back quite a bit on the price. So , i dont want to go wild and spend a lot on the exhaust.

Also, for the guys who have magnaflows, or heard them. Are they loud? I want it to be loud when i floor it, but I want to be able to cruise by a cop at low RPM and not get noticed all that bad. Will it be louder with the X pipe and duals?

Magnaflow #12246 14" 2.5" SISO aluminized mufflers = $130
2 Magnaflow #35105 3.5" dia 18" long stainless tips $55
2.5" mandrel bent tail pipes #15020/15021 $85
Magnaflow 2.5" X-pipe #10791 $66

~ $336 Plus shipping plus install for all aluminized parts. Your $500 quote seems reasonable.

Ok, i just got off of the phone with the guy, and he said that it doesn't include the X pipe. Really makes me mad, i told him i needed one from the start. Now, he says that he's not sure he can install one. He says there isn't much room under there to do that. I told him i'd try and find the dimensions of the X pipe. Anybody know what they are? Ok, now im confused on what to do. This sucks.

offroadmaniac,

Find a new shop to use, that guy is smoking crack.

Down load these pictures print them out, and show him not only can an X pipe go under there, but a complete Bassani L system as well ( the mufflers are longer then the MagnaFlows ).

I'd just pirint these, and find a new shop that does SS work, and get it done right. Just talk with the guy at the shop, if they start pontificating about getting a CEL, or how another guy did this, and had to have the PCM re-programmed, just nod your head and walk away, he doesn't know ***** from shine-ola.
The Bassani had to be hung back farther then a MagnaFlow system, due to the way the L system is mounted, and the Bassani X pipe is just about the same size as the MagnaFlow X pipe ( wouldn't suprise me to find out they are made at the same place with a different name on it LoL ).
The 90* on the drivers side is a 4"x12" elbow, with ~ 12" added to it, to lengthen it back a bit to line up the forward dumps.

offroadmaniac what brand of Supercharger are you looking at? Also don't forget Borla makes single mufflers that you could also use with your system just giving you another option to think about.

Im going with the ATI Procharger. But, i think that i've decided to just get either a SI/DO or SI/SO Muffler. Still thinking Magnaflow. I'm going to stay away from a true dual setup, because that is going to hurt my torque in the low end, and the procharger produces a lot of boost in the higher RPMs.

ATI Procharger is the way to go good choice I would like to recomend you go with the Borla catback it is really a nice sound and although it is a bit on the pricey side it is well worth it. The warranty they offer is unbeatable in my opinion in fact i jst used my warranty for my Boral Ford broke one of the welds on mine and Borla still replaced it free of charge becasue the weld broke.

Yea, sounds nice. Whatever i get, im going to order the pieces seperately, and get it custom. The cat-backs are way too expensive. Now, how does the sound compare to magnaflow? I want it loud, but not like flowmasters.

The Borla had such a sweet sounds not obnoxious like Flowmaster. The Borla has a nice deep rumble almost makes the truck havea big block sound it is really nice and the best i have heard .Not overly loud but loud in a good way. Try www.borla.com they use to have sounds you could listen to online but even those don't do the real sound justice. They make some really nice tips also. go to the website and check them out you won't be dissapoinnted.
