z55 and these scenarios
hey guys,
after reading all the pros and cons on these cat back systems, I've decided to check out the ravin Z55 system. I've heard too many pros that outweigh the cons and personally, I don't wanna get too wrapped up in this exhaust system thing.. I just wanna take off the stock muffler and put a ravin muffler in there keeping everything else in place (stock)
I got a quote of 128 bucks (install and part) out the door from Midas.. I will agree with you guys that are pissed about Midas not knowing anything about these muffles because they don't.. they are clueless. the Midas guy near me (parsippany NJ) told me it's a new affiliate of Midas and they don't even special order these things.. no down payment.. no nothing, they have them in thier warehouse..
I'm anxious to see how this comes out after reading all your guys experiences, but considering it's only 128 bucks, if I'm not happy... I'll just eat the expense and go stock again.
thanks for posting all your experiences guys, these boards are really helpfull all the way!
btw, I have a

patricjp,
If you go with the Z55 you won't be disappointed. Just make sure you shop around for the best price you can find. I as well kept my stock pipes and just had the muffler changed and added a nice tip.
Once I had mine installed I noticed a increase of low end power and throughout the higher rpms. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The price you said you were quoted for $128 is great, Keep us informed on how you like the setup.

hey i wanted to tell you guys about the Z55 I just had installed this past weekend!
it sounds great and i noticed a bit of HP gain for sure, off the line and when i really get on it (nail it) between 35k and 4k I can feel it!
my gear shifting is little strange tho- it feels like my trans does'nt wanna upshift and it kicks down instead of up.. this may be because of the flow I've added (k&n air filter and Z55) but I'm not real sure about it.. I think I read the superchip will fix that annoying downshift.. anyone else have that problem?
either way it was worth the 137 bucks complete out the door.. it sounds mean!..
if your'e looking for the complete horsepower gains then go with a dynaflow or something.. this is'nt gonna make you burn rubber just by installing this alone
