Red face Ravin are you listening????

I was all set to get the Ravin exhaust. You guys all sold me on it, so off I go.

I started calling the Midas shops in my area. None of them knew what the heck I was talking about. I had to explain the Ravin situation (that Midas is the distributer etc.) to the Manager of the 3rd store that I called. He said that he would ahve to call me back.

He called me back and said to bring the truck in and he would take a look and give me a price.

I took the truck in and they were 'too busy' to look at it!

I'm so frustrated that I think I'm gonna just get a Flowmaster 50 and do it myself. Screw Midas!

Ravin Inc., you may want to begin selling your product direct or pick a better retailer cause Midas is a joke in this area!

Thumbs down

Many of em' are...I wish preformance shops did their own work instead of sending people off to these places. Sometimes you get lucky thoguh. I was told to be at Meinike today at 4:30...I get there, and they say to come back tomorrow. ...happens all the time, these guys just want to put their hours in, and be done with it. Keep looking, you'll find a "good one."

Jackal: Let us me know if you find a good one in our area! There is a guy down in Riverside that does great work. He uses is own hangers and is pretty cheap. I think I paid $125 (did not include muffler) for tubes out the back and chrome tips. I had my old exhaust on for about 2 1/2 years and never had a problem.

Only thing is he is kind of picky. When I got it put on I went there three straight mornings. He would just say, drop it off and we will get to it. Well, I guess I am kind of picky too. Not real trustworthy when it comes to exhaust guys so I would just tell him "I'll come back."

The third day he says "well alright, well get it in next!"

I'm not sure I want to go through that again.

Ahhh...no kidding man. Well, I've been going to Meinike on Vivion and Antioch (sp?) for the last two trucks. They do a good job, and they let you go out, and get under the truck with them. I spent so much time in there, I've become pretty fimilar with the manager and some of the techs. On my last two jobs, I've actually done most of the work myself it seems. They did all the welding, and I placed everything where I wanted, and told them where to cut. Especially for placment of the tips. On the 2001, I brought my own muffler, and tip, and they did everything else for just $50!!! I'm just about as picky as they come. I was even there yesterday talking to two of the guys about getting more sound out of my FM 40. I may sell my entire cat-back setup, and go with a loud straight through Gibson or Delta-Flow with a big turn down. I'm not sure yet. Here's their number: 452-4434

Wingnut that is a PITA, wouldn't blame you. You could buy the Ravin and take it somewhere else? Just a thought.

I guess I lucked out and got a good Midas shop where I live. Not only did they do a great job at a great price, they threw in a stainless tip when I had to wait longer than expected. It all depends on where you go I guess.

All you have to do is figure out which Ravin muffler you want and have Midas order it, buy it out-right and have another shop do it for you. I did this myself and didn't have to deal with the BS from Midas. Try being in Houston there are 20+ Midas shops here, and I called them all. Some had no clue, some were just plain stupid, and the ones that had any clue wanted upwards of $400 to do the S/I D/O system. Simply call and ask if you can buy the muffler over the counter and takie it somewhere else. I ended up having the whole thing done with tips for $220. And I still haven't heard anything that sounds near as good as mine!

Also, I just found another good group of guys, but I haven't tried them yet...maybe tonight. They are on 23rd. street, just 1 1/2 miles west of Noland. Budget Muffler. I was told to ask for Ben. Number: 252-3321 They sounded really knowledgeable. I guess they primarily use MagnaFlow, and usually do true duals.
