FLO-PRO PERFORMANCE VS. RAVIN
Okay folks, just picked up the '98 F150 4.6 on Friday, so it's time for exhaust. With everyone's great posts, I think it is time for a Ravin Z-55 3" SI/SO. Or is it? I just spoke with a friend of a friend who just opened up a muffler shop called Mach I, here is Spokane. He uses the Flo-Pro Performance Muffler in either SI/SO or SI/DO at about $200 to $250. He also said the SI/SO is the best for performance, and sounded great. I have not heard of these nor seen them talked about here. Does anyone have any info on them? If not, I'm making an appointment this Friday for the Ravin install. Check out the web site...

Didn't see any performance numbers. Never heard of them. Good luck, you could always be a Pioneer?

Pioneering has its price! More than I can afford. I will at least check into it at his shop and "look around". It bothers me that no one on this entire forum has any input for Flo-Pro Mufflers. There HAS been a lot of experience out there with Ravin, which is a great piece of mind. Someone had to pioneer Ravin though, right?
Yep, I went in and had the guy mount up the Ravin and the Flowmaster together and came out with the Ravin. Posted message(s) and the rest is history.
I guess that would be considered risk averse comparison pioneering right?

Just had a thought. Why not have they guy mount the flo pro, the ravin and the fm for you - then decide? If he is confident in his recommendation he should.

F150aGoGo, I knew you'd be the one to respond after reading your detailed topic on the Ravin, but had no idea that was the first of the chats about Ravin. Congratulations on a job well done. He SHOULD be willing to install all three, but he's got the Flo-Pros, which I could get a dual out the rear with tips for probably $225-$250, but I would probably have to order a Ravin (none in stock), AND go buy a Flowmaster at the General Store and take to him. And of course, his time is money as well as mine. The Midas guy I've dealt with before is pretty cool, but when I called to see if he was there today, I got ahold of some guy that said "Nope, we don't have them in stock because they are too expensive." He said they were $150 just for the muffler. I should just buy a dual out Ravin at Midas and take it somewhere else!!!
The midas shop in my neck of the woods was cutting back on FM and some other brand. I wonder if it was the flo pro you mention. Don't hold me to this, but if it was the flo pro then thats the "old" inventory they were ditching.

POLARISGUY,
Sorry about the late post... I had a Flo-Pro 2.5" SI/SO installed about 8 months ago using the factory pipes. I really like the sound of it and have had several people tell me they like it. It's not too loud but when you get on it you can hear it. I had a Flowmaster 2 chamber on my 91 Bronco (351W V8), it's not as loud as that. I noticed a nice improvement in mid to topend and it doesn't feel as though I lost any torque. I think this is because I kept the stock pipes instead of increasing them also. Let me know if you have any questions...
