Gibson Dual Sports
Gibson Dual Sports
Has anyone here put Gibson's dual sports on there truck. I was looking at them and think that they would lood good. I thought about the straight duals, but I have heard that the duals hurt the 4.2. I like the look of the two pipes coming off the one side.
Are they better than the straight duals? I have a boat, so I do tow sometimes. Also, which would give the better gains from the 4.2. I will soon get my income tax back and this is the first real engine mod that I want to do to my truck. Well, that and a chip. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys

I have the Gibson Dual Sport on my truck, and to be honest with you I really like it. I had thought about going with duals right out the back, but I wanted my truck to have more of a sleeper look. I think if I had gone with duals out the back I would have had a lot more people (Chevies) wanting to race me, which is something I didn't really want because when they lose they would know for sure I had mods. Whereas with duals out the side they would be left wondering whether or not I had mods and would approach other F150s with a little more caution.
Since you have a boat to tow the dual sport would probably be the better choice, because you wouldn't get the exhaust build up on your boat while pulling it and I think you get a better power increase with the dual sport as well.
I think I need to update my sig., cuz I am taking the money I was going to use to buy the 4.10 gears and the touchscreen dvd player to buy a 2003 Lightning instead.

Hey I Laugh, I see that you have the 5.4 in your truck. But do you think that it would work good for the 4.2 also and still get decent sound and power. I want something a little louder, but do not want to hurt the power either.
Good luck on getting your Lightning

I realize I have the 5.4 and you have the 4.2, but I do think the dual sport would work good for your truck. The dual sport is loud enough for me and gave me a little more jump off the line in my opinion. You would most likely gain power by adding the Gibson exhaust as opposed to losing power. Since I don't have the 4.2 I can't tell you how it might sound on your truck, but on mine it has that real nice rumble to it at low speeds that lets people know I am not stock. At highway cruising speeds it is fairly quiet, but when you step into the gas you are definitely reminded it is there. I love the sound that the dual sport has, and would assume it couldn't sound all that much on your truck. Having this exhaust would by no means hurt your power.
Hi Paul,
The guy next door has the dual sport on his Dakota, with the 3.9 or whatever the smaller engine is.
I know it's like comparing apples and oranges, but on his dodge, it sounds really tinny and wimpy.
Never heard it on a ford before.

I have the Gibson on mine. Overall, I like it. I'd like a little bit more sound for the street, but it's perfect for long highway trips so I wouldn't be irritated from the drone. I also had the muffler shop weld-on each connecting joint instead of using the supplied tailpipe clamps.
If you want more sound and a deeper rumble be sure to check out the Flowmaster 50 series and consider a muffler shop to weld in dual-tips.
