Question Dynomax mufflers?

Anyone running a dynomax round body superturbo(rv type muffler)? If so what kind of sound and performance gains did you get. My next mod is the exhaust and I don't have much money to play around with different systems and I don't want to end up with something that will resonate my Expy.
I was also considering Flowtechs Afterburner muffler. I read that they don't resonate.
Thanks

Unhappy

I put on the muffler you described, and lost some low end punch. I have a 5.4 with 3:73LS, Superchipped, so it didn't bother me too much, and I think my MPG increased.
Sound is not as loud as a cat-back system, but still sounds 'healthy'.

I have a Dynomax, don't know what type but I know it is a non baffled, S type muffler. I think it is a turbo. I used the stock exhaust pipes and just bolted it on. I also put a stainless tip on. To me, my performance improved. The sound is nice and throaty but not too loud. Under full throttle, people can hear me comming. I think I would use the round type, strait thru dynomax if I had it to do again (may do it anyway). If I remember correctly, I think the muffler set me back all of $30.
LOL...

Thumbs up

Dynomax super turbos are quite a bit louder than stock; Dynomax ultra-flows are what most people would consider loud and throaty. If you go to dynomax.com they have descriptions and sounds. If you go to a1-performance.com they have Dynomax flow rates, other muffler company flow rates, and all the sizes. If you're on a budget, you can get a good increase in sound and performance by just replacing the muffler alone. If you can set back about $300 you can get even more with a cat-back system.

The Dynomax Super Turbo is a 3 tube oval, the Ultra-Flow Stainless Steel and Welded are both "straight thru" design oval. They do make round ones and racing series also. I lost no low end torque, and feel a increase at all speeds. I believe the back pressure issue is more important for pre-1999 lower horsepower 5.4s , and becomes more of an issue for 4.6 and 6 cylinders.

I have a '92 4.9L with dynomax stainless steel with aluminized pipes and it sounds great, not load at all. I have also noticed a small improvement in gas mileage and performance (even though it is a 6cyl)

How much are you all paying for just the muffler and can you share where you are getting the purchase made.

Summit wants 89-109, superturbo-ultraflow.
