Question 3" pipe for a 4.6 ?

I am installing a flowmaster 50 series muffler, single in single out 3" both ends. guys, i need some input on this issue. Will the 3" kill my low end? Will running pipes all the way to the back keep my low end? The technician insists that it will be ok and he will change it to 21/2 if i do not likeit but that is not the point, i want to do this only once.

I would just keep the stock 2.5 and use a 2.5 to 3 inch coupler and after the muffler come out at 3 inches to the tip. You will be fine. I don't think you will notice the low end loss and it will be slight. You will lose a little more low end, although hardly mentionalble, if you convert the whole pipe back to the cat. Why not just do it the easy way and do it just ahead of the new muffler. Cheaper too!

Veloci. I agree with cphilip. My Gibson is made that way. I believe the manufacturers know what works.
