I have just a couple of questions about exhaust. Now, I know my truck is a little older than most of yours, but I love my '88 F-150. Exhaust is pretty much the same. Anyways, I have it straght-piped with dummy duel. It's pretty load, but I would like it louder without removing my converters. What are these Flowmasters and such I hear about.

I personally was dissapointed when i got my 2 Flowmaster 40 series put on my true dual exhaust. I have a 96 f150, with true duals from the manifolds. My check engine light has surprisingly not come on after 2 weeks of driving. But i have o2 sensor simulators standing by just incase. But i am getting the mufflers removed again and will enjoy my loud cackling engine till i find something that quiets the exhaust only a little and not a lot like these flowmasters did. A lot of people seem to like them, but i don't I am now ANTI-muffler... cause it says what it does... MUFFLES! Plus, i noticed less throttle response from no mufflers to mufflers.

 

If the Flowmasters are too quiet for you you might want to try a glass-pack style muffler (Chreey Bomb comes to mind). I had an old '71 F-100 with headers, true duals, and the cherry bomb header mufflers and it was LOUD! Pretty much a straight through design (you could see right through them from end to end), but it takes a little of the "pop" out of the sound of the exhaust. Just a thought.--DIY
