Question 2001 Excursion trannys recalled

My boss has his new 2001 Excursion sitting behind the dealership fence due to an unspecified transmission recall/stop sale fix. They have 10 of the 2001s and all are on hold pending some sort of a fix to the tranny. They won't say for sure.

Anyone else heard what is specifically wrong with them? Is the recent FoMoCo 2001 Truck tranny recall as posted on BlueOvalNews to blame here (the $4.00 diode??)

*Long story short..he took the truck in to dealership (FREEWAY FORD, Columbus GA) to have oil changed, they put a dent/hole in the rear quarter panel just below the window...AND were almost finished with the bondo and paint repair before he arrived to pick it up.

They tried to hide their mistake..but were dumb enough to paint right over the pin-stripe, left paint runs, and the rear tail light was hanging down when he arrived early to see if it was ready. Lawyer called. Dealership agreed to trade out for what they had on the lot to keep him quiet...any locked up 2001 (no 2000s available). So bye bye XLT, hello LIMITED. He can't even complain to FORD MOTOR COMPANY and can't even put anything negative on the survey form (per legal release). Good for him...but they continue on as crooked as ever.
