Keyless entry

I just bought my truck about three months ago, and I am just getting to know it. It is a 1994 flareside f-150 with a 351 windsor. It's practically loaded it has the XLT package and everything. My curiousity lies with the keyless entry. When I got my truck the only keys they had for it were some cheep harware store keys, and of course they didn't have the remotes. I want to know how to find out if my truck has keyless entry to it. I want to buy one of those remotes off of ebay but I first want to know if i have keyless entry or not. But I am pretty sure I do because my friends truck isn't nearly as nice as mine, and it is same year and it has keyless entry, that he got from the factory, also I want to know how to program these remotes if i do have keyless entry. And if it helps you any I have a an alarm from the factory it goes off every once in a while.

It is possible your truck came with keyless entry from the factory but the "chip" keys were not offered.

To determine whether you have the keyless entry module installed, you need to find the programming connector at the base of the steering column. It should be a (gray?) connector with nothing hooked up to it. You simply turn the key to RUN and momentarily jumper the two pins inside the connector. The doors should lock & unlock.

If you order keyfobs online you need to make sure they will work on your truck. The newer Ford vehicles use a different protocol.

To program the keyfobs, simply follow procedure above. After the doors lock and unlock you need to press a button on each of the fobs you want to program (up to 4 total, all must be programmed at the same time). Then turn ignition OFF, the locks will cycle once more to indicate programming is complete. Done.
