Power windows and locks
I recently brought a 2002 F150. It is an XL model so it does not have power windows and locks. I am not tall so reaching across the seat is hard. My question is if anyone knows of good websites that have good kits available. I went to my dealer and they wanted almost 600 dollars to install. I am looking for something as good but somewhat cheaper. Does anyone have any suggestions
I'll cut and paste in a post I did back in July reporting on an electric window kit I bought from J.C.Whitney. The kit is factory style and works very well.

Electric window kit for XL owners
This is for all those F150 XL owners. It’s long but I think worth it.
I installed the electric window kit that J. C. Whitney sells. It is the kit that is like OEM quality and replaces the manual regulator. Put them in my truck yesterday.
First let me tell you this is the second kit I have had. The first one installed about 4 ½ years ago. It was the type that had a cable with a motor on one end and rotary on the other. It actually fit over the manual crank (in place of the handle) and cranked up the window. This system never did work very well but was the only thing available at the time. It broke last week and is still covered by warrantee. The installer offered to put in another one but I declined and decided to go with this (should be better) kit.
The kits instructions suck. No matter the install was strait forward and went very well. I have had the door panels off several times with the speaker up-grade so I already knew how to do that. The old crank removes by taking off 4 bolts and then I used a chisel to snap off 4 rivets that hold on the manual crank to the doorframe. The crank then removes easily and the new one bolts in its place. The new electric crank fit purfectly into the same mounting holes. The long slide that attaches to the window is re-used and can be removed from the old crank by bending the tab at the end and sliding off. Slide it on the new one in the same manner and bend the tab back to hold in place. I lubed both slides with liberal grease. Use a clamp with rubber pads to hold the window partially open or it will fall into the door when you remove the crank. I did this by clamping the window just before it entered the frame. With the window partially open, there is a space in front of the window large enough to fit the clamp. Be careful not to tighten too much or you may be buying a new window.
The electrics were already done on my truck so I didn’t have to work with that. If you have a manual crank now be sure to get the switches with the kit (extra) as they have the wiring and switches as well as the plug for the hole were the manual crank was. I just spliced the electrics from the old system to the new.
Total install time was 2 hrs for the first window (learning process) and one hour for the second window. Will be longer if you need to do the electronics. Should be an easy Sat afternoon project.
That said, this window kit looks, feels, works just like original equipment. It is very nice and is quality made. I am much happier with the operation and am glad I made the conversion.

I think the whole kit including the deluxe switches is less then $300. at Whitney. Right now they have a 20% off sale for the holiday season so it is a good time to get your self a X-mas gift.
Good luck and have fun...
