Question un-used electrical connector

Hello everyone;

i've been readin' here a long time and have learned plenty! i searched, but drew a blank on this one so i registered and hope the community has room for 1 more.

my question is this- on my 2001 supercrew, 5.4l, 2 wheel drive "plane janer" i observed an unused electrical connector i'm going crazy wondering what it's for (hoping it's for the fog lights i'm installing) it is located under truck by the passenger side front tire there is a harness for the dual horns and wrapped around that harness is another harness with the unused connector in question (located just under passenger side front headlight)

is this where i can tap my foglights into or is this a connector for an accessory/option that i don't have, but will get

thanks in advance all!

Questions for you...

1) How many wires are in this harenss?

2) Does your light switch pull out when in the headlamp postition?

3) Does your truck have a spot for foglights?

In my opinion...this might be what your looking for, but you mayalso need to replace you headlamp switch. And you also may have to buy the mating harness for the fogs.

Hope this can help.

you guys are fast, hope this extra info narrows it down...

-there are 2 wires in harness

-my headlight switch doesn't pull out (so i'll have to find a spot to drill in new switch

-there is no spot on valance for lights, but i'll be mounting the fog spots in air damm holes like the guy in tech articles

-this is a Canadian model so i don't think it's for resistor, unless they forgot to install (headlights are on during day)

hope this helps

i snooped around and found a twin of the first connector at opposite end of truck ... i feel pretty confident these must be for fog lights , they both contain 2 wires and connector is blue in colour, i will put a meter to it and swicth lights on and post reults

Since you found it's twin and they are blue, it is for the fog lights.

Since you have the connectors, then you should be able to get get a switch assembly from a dealer or a salvage yard.

Just to clarify, the headlight switch will only pull out when in the headlights on position. It will not pull out in the off or parking lamp positions without modification.

you guys are the best...

-the connectors don't have power when i switch the lights on and the darn thing won't pull out even when lights are on,

but i can't complain by what i'm reading all i need is a new switch and all is well

-surprisingly according to my manual the fog relay is a smaller one and it is also for daytime running lights (canadian model) ... will this affect anything?

Thumbs up

success!

final outcome;

-installed "pull-out" light assembly and power comes on to wires that were tucked under truck from factory
-mounted spot fogs and off i went

thanks for the info
