Mt 1997 XLT has a door lock problem. I just bought the truck about a month ago, it has an Excalibur alarm that locks/unlocks the doors. Last week the passenger side door would not lock. I tried the alarm remote, the power lock switch, and even pushing it down but it would not budge!

Is this a common problem? Anyone know anything about fixing this issue? I'm a novice with tools, please help!

 

I can't speak for everyone here but it sounds to be mechanical if you can't even push it down by hand. Unless the lock is being pushed up by the power mechanism you should be able to lock it at least by hand. try pulling the fuse for the locks just to make sure it's not a failed relay. If after pulling the fuse you still cant lock it then it's a mechanical issue in the mechanism. If you can lock it once the fuse is pulled then you might have a relay that's welded or the electronic in the mechanism are fried. Just my thoughts, I've not any problem with the locks on my 98 and I have a remote start that also locks/unlocks the doors.
