Simple question about power mirrors?

I just replaced the power mirror switch on my truck (old one would not work in one direction) and I dont know if it was lit at night. Are they supposed to be?? Seems to me the one in my dads F150 did?? The new one does not and I was just wondering

My '01 is not lit. Nor were my '99 and '97. The Expedition and Navigator's buttons were lit.

My '02 XLT isn't lit. In fact, I don't think any of the controls on the door are lit...

Well, I am still confused cause it sounds like no trend yet to me. I really think my switch in my truck (97 F150) was light but I swapped them with an 2000F150 and now the switch is not lite
Guess it would be a good trivia question for the ford dealership.
