Screwed up my crusie control
Help no cruise control.... this sucks
Well, I was messing with the stupid highlight switch trying to figure out why the dang fog light mod wouldn't work for me. Iwould say the background info is needed on this if I want help, so here goes.
About two days ago I took the switch out, did the mechacial portion (grinding the ramp) then when I tried the electical portion, it worked wierd and blew a fuse. I reversed the procedure (took the jumper wire off). Today I took the headlight switch back out to check things over. Had to put it back togther to go to work. That's when I found out no crusie control.
It did this once about 1 month ago. No crusie going to work, truck sit at work for 6 hrs, crusie worked on way home, I never touched a thing, figured shutting the truck off reset it.
Tried this twice today and never worked. Checked all fuses and none seem to be blown (dark, will check again). Even disconnected battery.
I'm thinking there must be a loose wire and pulling on the headlight switch caused it to fallout and loose contact. I made one big mistake on this whole deal, I didn't disconnect the battery, figured why should I, nothing should be under power? All I was touching was the headlight switch and it didn't harm it two days ago. Either that or a strange concidence of failure? What I need to know is where are the crusie control fuses? My truck is a early 97 (jan 96) and the fuse box xover doesn't seem to match the fuse box or the book. The book seems to have things right but none of them say crusie control. What else should I check?
What's this I read about a pressure switch on the master cylinder being connected to the crusie? What about the transmission range sensor and VSS?

I happened to stumble across my problem and it is now fixed for anyone that wants to know.
It was the speed control deactivator switch mounted on the front of the master cylinder. It was soaked with brake fluid ( busted internally). $18 and 5 minutes and she works again.
