Cruise control (speed control) dead

Hello everyone. I need some help diagnosing a problem on my '98 F150. I went to use the ole' cruise control the other day and it just didn't want to take over like I wanted it to. The fuse is ok. The horn, blender door and brake lights all work. I checked the resistance and voltage at the electrical connector to the servo motor per the Hayes manual and found everything to be in spec. Haven't checked the transmission speed sensor like the manual suggest - don't really know how. My guess is the servo motor itself or the circuit bolted on the side of the servo motor. Has anyone had a problem with this? What was the fix? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Keep truckin'.

Have you checked the buttons to see if they are working or making contact to turn on the cruise and set and all that. I could also have someting to do with the onboard computer I remember reading a post a long time ago about someone who had there cruise stop working they took it in and someting in the computer went bad that controled the cruise control.

I was having the same problem and found that the speed control deactivator switch mounted on the master cylinder was soaked with brake fluid. I had been fooling with the headlight swirch and thought maybe I pulled a wire loose or burned something. Turns out it was a concidence and the above metioned sensor had busted. $18 and 5 minutes fixed mine, didn't have to bleed brake system either.
