200 Amp Alt upgrade
Question for those who have done this type of mod. I got my 200 Amp Mr Altenator unit via UPS today, do I need to upgrade the stock main power feed wire from the alternator to the voltage regulator?
Jupiterak,
Quality looks great as the unit was built to order by Mr Alt. I am looking at the following PA Performance #4 wire kit with 200 amp fuse.
"Short Kits include: large #4 ultra-flexible ruby-red Phoenix Gold Brand wire with sealed 360° crimped terminals, 200 amp in-line fuse and holder with mounting screws all for $29.00"
What do you think?

Just curious.... But why would want a higher capacity alternator? The only reason I could see is if you were running a big stereo set-up. I'll add this mod to my list if there is a real benefit for it.
Two more questions, does the guy you got it from have a website and how much did it cost you?
TIA,
Steve

SteveB,
Three reasons electric fan, underdrive pulleys, and my stock alt. is only 105 AMP.

Oh, and the cost of 200 AMP vs 130 AMP marginal!
