Thumbs down Key Gets Stuck, Anybody Else ???

I have A 2002 F-150 Lariat 4X4. For the past two to three weeks, at times, the key gets stuck in the ignition when I turn off the engine. To get it out, I have to move the gear shifter around in park a couple of times. Its like it does'nt know it's in park to release the key.

Does anyone else have or had this problem??. I will be taking it to the dealer.

May not be the same problem, but I had a 1991 F150. For a while I had a hard time getting the key out of the ignition. Finally it failed, I could not turn the ignition switch mechanism either direction, and my key was stuck in it. I had to replace the key cylinder. Normally this can be done when it is either (I forget which) forward or reverse by pressing a release pin(s) with a awl. In my case it was in between, thus blocking access to the pins. The dealer said "rip and tare" to get it out, and that's what it took. Could be a bad situation if it fails while you are on a trip / out in the middle of no where. I would recommend looking into replacing it, but get a second opinion.

Thanks Wino

Hey Wino, It has not done it for a few days or so but am expecting it . I'm getting a free oil change at the dealer so I'm waiting to bring it in. I figured someone else had to have had the same problem.

Thanks!!
