Question Dash lights out!

About a week ago my instrument lights didn't come on. Turned them on/off a few times and they came on. Worked okay for a few days then the same problem. Now they won't come on at all. I hit the dash a few times and reached under and wiggled some wires around but no lights. Checked the fuses-all okay. Lights around the a/c controls work fine. Same or different circuit? Any ideas where to go with this?

I had the same thing happen to me on my 99L. I didn't know what it was that killed the lights in the dash cluster and everything I did to try to make them come back on didn't work. It ended up being the dash cluster itself that became defective. I had it replaced under warranty. BTW, it's not just a light bulb back there that lights everything up, the whole cluster's gotta go and be replaced. Hope the info helps.

That electroluminescent stuff is just used in the lightning cluster, his cluster does have bulbs that can be replaced.

If there are separate bulbs, what are the chances of them all going out at once? Seems weird. If it's the whole cluster, now would be a good time for an upgrade to white faced ones I guess. The wife can't say "no" now!

My '89 did that and it was the dimmer/headlight switch. Might be different for the later models, but isn't it the same concept?

I had the same thing happen on my 99 Lighnting. They want $728 to replace the dash cluster. Not covered by warranty apparently. Any other options to this huge repair bill?
Help! Thanks, Dan

The dealer is helping me out on this! New dash cluster needed for Lightning since it is electroluminescent panel not light bulbs...
