Question Tail Lights

I ordered a passenger side taillight for my 98 XLT 2x4 online and even though I got the right part according to the year make and model it does not match. It is more squared than mine. Does any one know if they changed tail lights mid year in 98. Also am I correct in assuming that my extended
cab is reffered to as a "styleside" and not a "flareside"? Thanks for the help!

Styleside vs flareside refers to the type of bed you have and
not whether you have an extended cab or not. The
tail lights are completely different on a styleside vs a
flairside. It could be you have the right light but just an
aftermarket and not oem.

I understand that it does not have aything to do with the cab. I am assuming that since I have a straight bed that I have a styleside. I could accept it if it would fit and look different but it wont even fit.

Without seeing pic of them, it sounds like you have a
tail for a flairside.

Been the same since 97. I bet they sent you a 98 F250/350 lens like a 96 f150 would have used.

Thanks Blackxlt that does help because now I know it is a styleside. I just went out and looked with a coworker to verify it was not just me. It does not even look close and will not fit. It looks like one off of a GMC Jimmy.Kinda taller and more square with 2 external screw holes. Does this sound like an old style F150? This is what mine looks like except it is a 4x2.

You definitely have a styleside and your tail lights are the
same as my 2001 styleside. I'd return it and get the right
one.

Thumbs down

Tried that and got scammed by www.autopartsonline.com. Avoid them like the plague.
