please help me with these "spooky" wipers

ok,
my intermittent wipers, in fact all of the wiper functions work, when the truck is not running, but the key is in the on postion.
When the truck is running, the clutch is out, and my foot is not on the brake, the slow speed wipers work without that little delay in there. The intermittent wipers do not work.
When I am driving the truck, I have to put the wipers on slow, which then makes the wipers have a 1 second delay at the end of the cycle.
On a different note, it takes forever to get some washer fluid on the windshield.
Is there a recall for this?
Will I end up breaking off alot of "little plastic pieces" inside of the directional stalk if I take it apart?
Thanks in advance...

Mine has kind of done the same thing since the day I bought it. My intermitten wipers on the first couple of settings only work about 10% of the time. All the other settings it acts like it is possessed, there is not a standard interval for the wipers. Stop for about 5 seconds a couple times, stop for about 30 seconds 3 or 4 times, work like they are on slow continual instead of intermittent for a while.....................

I know where you are coming from, really annoying.

I also have the problem where it seems to take forever sometimes for the washer fluid to begin squirting. Haven't seen anyone else with this problem posted though.

Would be nice to find a fix!

Lightbulb Spooky wipers?

Hey Guys,
I had a few friends of mine have the same prob. with wipers. They went to th dealer and found that their "Multifunction Switches" were bad. This is the whole assembly that is you directionals/wipers/ and high beams. You might want to check at your local dealer and see if this could be your prob.
About your prob. with washer fluid taking a long time to reach your windshield...check to make sure you don't have any kinks in you hoses for your washer bottle. I hope this helps.

As far as your wipers not working properly. Do the wipers sometimes "come on" by themselves? And or, sometimes when you are moving the signal arm to signal, does the wipers "come on"? And or, sometimes if you hit a bump/pothole in the road, does the wipers "come on"? If your answer is yes to any of these questions, more than likely you have the "phantom wiper" problem. This problem is documented very well on this site. If you have the dealer do it, it will cost you $150 to 200 bucks. I had the problem and went to the dealer and bought the "multi-function switch-signal/wiper arm (it is all one piece). It cost $84.00. I installed it myself. No more "phantom wipe"

fordpartsonline.com has the multi-****ion switch for around $50 bucks not including shipping, I think.

Some people have thought that it was the grease used in the factory switch, that was causing the problem. Some have stated that they have just cleaned the factory grease and utilized another kind. This has stopped their problem.

My used truck has always done this. Tried to find an aftermarket supplier of the switch, since it did not make since to replace a factory defective part with another factory part. Could not find one, so I installed a new factory switch. Hardest part of install was pushing in the hole under the ignition key switch to release the whole ignition key switch piece. Very easy. No more problems.

As to the washer fluid problem, several people have tried different things to correct that. If you do a search you will see what has worked for others. Good Luck.

I had a similar problem on my wifes Windstar that had a similar wiper switch. If I remember right, I poped the end (like a cap on the end of the turnsignal lever) off and sprayed some WD-40 or something in there and it fixed it.
