From: Tampa, FL, or Memphis TN... depends.
Alarm Q's.

I have read a few concerns about using a Remote Start with Fords PATS system. I have been told that Ford will routinely deny no-start PATS problems that are presented if the vehicle has an aftermarket alarm system. Any comments?

Also, I am interested in purchasing a new Compustar 2WSS-AS alarm. Pro's / Con's?

Well, we wouldnt necissarily deny a claim right off the bat, but the first thing i would do if i got one like that would be to unhook the remote start, then diagnose it. If it started after disconnecting the remote start, i would leave it unhooked and tell the customer to leave it off. If it was still a PATS problem, i'd fix it, and depending on what kind of day i was having, maybe hook the remote start back up. While a remote starter isnt going to be likely to make any part of the PATS system "bad", i have seen quite a few no-starts that were resolved by throwing the remote start system in a box and putting it in the passenger seat.
