intermittant odometer

Hi folks I have a recent problem,

My odometer has become intermittant sometimes working sometimes not working. I am assuming it is a bad connection or cold soilder joint, the other gauges work fine..

How does one remove the cluster to check it out...

JIm

Question Odometer Problem

Jimmer, did you fix your intermittent odometer problem? I am experiencing the same thing right now. Was it dust? Give me a shout.

I see that a lot, its just a intermittant flourescent display, you have to get a new cluster to fix it.

Take about something I was going to post. I just started to have this problem myself sometimes after I start the truck it will be blacked out for a few minutes then just come on and other times it works just fine the truck almost has 55,000 miles on it and just started doing this the last couple of days. I thought it may be due to the heat we been having causing the computer to act up and cause the odometer to be blank for a little bit. But if it keeps up I'll have it checked out. As I like to keep track of my miles for oil changes and such.

Even when the display is out, the miles are still added. Its just like unplugging the monitor from your computer, its still runnin the same. I havent seen one yet to go out and never at least come on once in a while.

Mines in the shop still...surprise! the odometer is on back order and I might have to wait 4 weeks to get a new one...

Will keep you updated if a replacement fixes the problem...(it better)

Still waiting on the replacement parts (Odometer)...which are back-ordered.

They replaced my swich for the power windows - fixed

They replaced my Turn signal assembly - "ghost wiper" problem fixed

They replaced door lock actuators both sides- locks now functional electronically-not just manually - Fixed

They replaced driver's side seat belt assembly- retractor spring weak, and is STILL on the weak side... Fixed, but not entirely satisfactorily.

How much would it cost for a new cluster to fix the odometer.

Don't believe there is a fix...other than replacing the entire cluster.
