Stering Column Cover and Multifunction Switch
Stering Column Cover and Multifunction Switch
Ok, I just got my new multifunction switch from NAPA, $61 and I have torn into it before but couldn't get that dang cover off the steering column. So how do you take that thing off, it hooks up on the wheel adjust lever, tranny lever and the multiF lever. If I remember from the Haynes book it says to take steering wheel off and I am not gonna do that.
Three screws hold the top and bottom halves together, then there is the ignition switch release button. It is the 4th hole on the bottom of the column.
Stick a small punch or other object into the hole, put the key into the ignition, and turn on the ignition slowly. while turning the key, push the object in at the same time. The ignition switch should pop out, letting you take off the column cover. It takes a little wiggling, but it should come out pretty easily for you. Good luck.,,,,98
The multifunction switch is available from auto parts stores???????

That dang key was my problem but I ended up getting the bottom half off and just pushing the top back far enough that I could work and got it all taken crae of a few days ago. But now I know how to get that key ring off, thanks-- And yes you can get them at auto stores--I am amzed every day at the things I can get at a NAPA or Auto Zone type of store, they really have just about everything the dealer does.
