keypad
I have a question related to this.
I've read in other threads that if you have a little white box with 5 numbers on it up under the drivers side foot-well then you can add it. So I got down there and looked, but I didn't see anything. Can some please post a picture of where this white box is located at, or at least give a better description.
Thanks,
Steve

I guess you could, but the GEM does not control the keyless entry system - it is controlled by the Security Module. This module is a beige box mounted on the firewall above and to the left of the brake pedal.
The module will have a label on it that includes part name, part number, keypad code, and some other misc. info.
This module also controls the remote keyless entry (RKE) system. If you have keyfobs then you likely have this module already installed. If you do not have keyfobs, you can test to see if the module is present in your truck by attempting to enter RKE programming mode -
1) put key in ignition
2) cycle from OFF to Run 8 times quickly (within 10sec), ending in RUN the 8th time.
3) the doors will LOCK then UNLOCK
Bingo - you have the Security Module in your truck.
